WINTERTIME IS A FESTIVE OCCASION IN OLD SAN FRANCISCO, AND WE’VE GOT THE PERFECT COZY VENUE AGAIN THIS YEAR!
ENJOY A POTLUCK MEAL AND AN AUCTION OF CAMPING GEAR AND OTHER STUFF.
BRING SOMETHING UNIQUE AND STRANGE FOR THE GIFT EXCHANGE.
WE'LL END THE EVENING WITH SLIDES OF DESERT TRIPS (bring yours).

FOR THE GIFT EXCHANGE:
Wrap a silly gift. Any old thing — make sure it’s funny! After everyone who has brought
something has chosen a wrapped gift, they’ll be free to exchange it with anyone who will part with theirs. (If your gift ends up in the auction, all the better!)
FOR THE AUCTION:
Bring outdoor gear or other useful items you think will sell. The auction is a lot of fun, especially when the bidding gets hot and heavy! Make sure to have a look at the auction stuff before the bidding begins - come early if you want to buy! AND REMEMBER: You get to take home anything you bring that doesn’t sell!

Groundhog Day Party

The desert endures your petty concerns,
Through heat and cold and wind and sun.
Fantasy boils inside the vapid,
And spirals away like a dust devil done.
Technocrats think they’ve perfected the future.
Sunbeams are counted by billionaire schemers,
Scraping and tearing the land we once loved,
To power the world for dim-witted dreamers.
We’ll gather for a potluck dinner, slides, and conversation on this winter night as the desert turns toward Spring. Meet your fellow Survivors and plan trips for the future. Our Spring 2010 Trip Schedule should be ready, loaded with new trips for a new hiking season. Join your fellow members at our annual Farewell-to-Winter/Hello-to-Spring celebration.
