Desert Survivors Member Paul Brickett has put together a wonderful trip report with pictures from the October 2-5 (Thu-Sun)
Reveille/Worthington Backpacks
(M/S) in Southeast Nevada. I will be working with Paul to find out exactly how he creates this web and hopefully we can expand upon it to allow other members to create similar webs. Paul is our new Communications Director for 2003-2004 and he certainly is "communicating" with us now! Great job Paul!

Party Alert!!!

If you attended the Annual General Meeting last week then you know what great fun can be had at a Desert Survivors Party. (So many new Contra Dancers in our group, wow that was fun!) Mark your calendar NOW for Saturday December 13, for the DS Holiday Party during the Christmas Season. Details will follow as the date draws closer. Save your old camping and backpacking gear, we will again be having a fundraising auction or use it for a white elephant gift. Start planning now!

Your Desert Survivors Membership may now be paid electronically using PayPal. Your mailings from Desert Survivors contain the expiration date of your membership. If you would like to renew your membership and pay with PayPal, go to the Join Desert Survivors Page and at the bottom of the page click the PayPal Button. The usual PayPal payment screen will appear.

If you wish to only donate to Desert Survivors,  a "Donate" page has been setup to allow an easy payment with your credit card through PayPal. Go back to the homepage and click the donate button.

An open letter to all Desert Survivors from our President Steve Tabor concerning the Coyote Mountains Wilderness in Imperial County. Steve is urging us to write a letter to the BLM outlining your concerns to this Wilderness Area in Imperial County and the damage that is going on. Steve has posted a copy of his letter to the BLM and urges you to write a similar letter. Please take the time to write your own letter to the BLM outlining your concerns and suggestions on keeping the area as pristine as possible. Join us for a relatively easy two-day romp through cool redwood forests in San Mateo County. We'll hike along Pescadero Creek, lunch
at the Sierra Club hikers hut, and marvel at the meandering tar pools of Tarwater Creek.  Campfire and happy hour at Shaw Flat trail camp. Limit 8.

The picnic is open to all members , family and friends, plus those who are contemplating joining the Desert Survivors. A fun day is planned for all.

It is time once again for the very popular Desert Survivors Technical Seminar being held at Tilden Park in Berkeley on Saturday July 19 starting at 9:00 am. You MUST pre-register by phone with Steve Tabor. Call early, the seminar is limited to only the first  45 participants.

Also coming up very quickly is the Desert Survivors Summer Picnic, June 21 in the Roberts Recreational Area at Oakland. Check the Upcoming Trips Page for additional information.

Note that both of the above programs are open to members, non-members, friends and family. If you are interested in finding out more about the Desert Survivors this is a perfect opportunity to do so.
