Groundhog Day Party 2006

 

Time marches on in grim frozen lockstep.
On his throne sits the mindless anemic ‘Menhotep,
Staring blankly ahead, voice-box on his back,
As his people sit helpless, aghast, staring back.

Democracy falls while bored citizens twiddle,
Just barely aware, on their shoes drips their piddle.
Hypnotized by the tube in their caves do they linger,
While Pharaoh smirks toward them, extending a finger.

 

 We’ll gather for a potluck dinner, slides, and conversation on this winter night as the desert turns toward Spring.  Meet your fellow Survivors and plan trips for the future.  Our Spring 2006 Trip Schedule will be ready, loaded with new trips for a new hiking season.  Join your fellow members at our annual Farewell-to-Winter/Hello-to-Spring celebration.

DIRECTIONS to Ron Cohen’s: 755 - 11th Avenue, San Francisco

 

From the East Bay: Take I-80 across the Bay Bridge and get off at the Ninth Street Exit.  Drive one block on Harrison Street to 9^th Street and take a right.  Drive four long blocks on 9^th, cross Market, and take a left on Hayes Street.  Drive four blocks on Hayes to Gough Street and take a left.  One block later, take a right on Fell Street.  Drive west on Fell up and over the hill all the way to Stanyan Street, which butts up against Golden Gate Park (nineteen blocks).  Take a right on Stanyan and drive three blocks to the northeast corner of the Park.  Take a left there on Fulton Street and drive twelve blocks to 11^th Avenue, where you’ll go right.  Ron’s house is one-half block north of Fulton on the left side of the street.  Parking should be no problem. It’s best on Fulton if you can’t park on 11^th.

 

From the South Bay: Drive north on I-280 to Daly City.  As you enter San Francisco, get off at State Route 1 (19^th Avenue).  Drive north on 19^th Avenue through Golden Gate Park.  As you leave the Park, take a right on Fulton Street, which runs along its north boundary.  11^th Avenue is two blocks east.  Take a left onto 11^th Avenue. Ron’s house is one-half block north on the left side of the street.

 

From the North Bay: Take Route 101 over the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco.  Once over the bridge, get on State Route 1 and drive south through the Presidio.  Continue south, now on Park Presidio Drive to Fulton Street, just before Golden Gate Park.  Take a right on Fulton, then another right, then another right, onto Cabrillo Street.  Cross Park Presidio Drive (Route 1), now going east. Drive two more blocks to 11^th Avene.  Ron’s house is one-half block south on the right side of the street.
